Rishi's first phone call to President Zelensky as Prime Minister, what did they say?

 


Rishi Sunak called the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky as the Prime Minister of Britain.  He said that he has full support for Ukraine.  He assured that Britain will stand by Ukraine in war situations.

  • What's the story?
According to news agency sources, Downing Street has informed that the first foreign leader that Rishi Sunak spoke to after taking the British Prime Minister's seat was Zelensky.  A spokesman for Rishi said: "Our Prime Minister told Zelensky that relations between Ukraine and Britain will remain as good as ever.  In fact, the relationship between the two countries will become stronger under his tenure.  He assured President Zelensky that he could trust and rely on his government for solidarity.''


  • What's next?
On Wednesday, after becoming the Prime Minister of Britain, Rishi fired a bunch of old ministers.  He has brought back to the cabinet several Conservative leaders who were dropped and resigned under his predecessor Liz Truss.  Dominic Raab has been appointed as the new Deputy Prime Minister.  He was also Deputy Prime Minister under Boris Johnson.  Apart from this, Rishi has also returned the leader of Indian origin Suella Braverman to the cabinet.  She resigned from the post of British Home Secretary on October 20 due to differences with Liz.
